The Eggstravaganza is back! Huntsville Parks & Recreation invites you to this free event Saturday, April 1, from 9-11 a.m.
Now in its second year, the Eggstravaganza offers even more for families and children, ages 12 and under, to enjoy at John Hunt Park, 2151 Airport Road SW, Huntsville.
“We were blown away by the community response to last year’s Eggstravaganza,” said Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett. “We knew immediately that we wanted to make it an annual event.”
What to egg-spect
The morning will begin with the Easter Bunny arriving on a Huntsville Fire & Rescue (HFR) truck to meet his friends and take pictures. Around the park, there will be more than 10,000 eggs for children to hunt. Find a golden egg and receive a special prize!
There will also be face painting, inflatables, Easter-themed games and crafts, and special guests. In addition, children can check out the Huntsville Police Department’s Mustang Patrol Unit or sit in a fire truck.
For those who need a snack, food trucks will have items available for purchase.
Egg hunt schedule
Plenty of free parking is available at the Jaycee Community Building, located at 2180 Airport Road SW, and at the nearby Joe Davis Stadium site. Families may want to give themselves a little extra time to arrive for the egg hunts, based on the following schedule:
- 9 a.m. – open to children with special needs
- 9:30 a.m. – ages 4 and under
- 10 a.m. – ages 5-7
- 10:30 a.m. – ages 8-12
In the event of rain, the Eggstravaganza will move into the Jaycee Community Building. Follow Huntsville Parks & Recreation on Facebook or Instagram for event updates. Let us know you’re coming with an RSVP online.
“We hope to see you on April 1 at this communitywide event made possible by the City of Huntsville and our supporting partners,” Gossett said. “It’s going to be a great time with family-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy.”
