Decatur Fire & Rescue has begun a new program to empower businesses and community organizations to save lives.

“Lend a Hand, Decatur” is Decatur Fire & Rescue’s new citizen-based CPR program that utilizes strictly hands-only techniques to increase bystander empowerment.

For every minute that CPR is withheld, a cardiac victim’s chance of recovery decreases by 10 percent.

By the end of May, Decatur Fire & Rescue has estimated that 500 participants will have completed the training.

Training can be requested by contacting Lieutenant Brandon Sivley at (256) 341-4860.
