Congressman Dale W. Strong announced that the U.S. Postal Service will proceed with building a new post office for the 35763 zip code in southeastern Madison County. The decision comes as the area experiences significant residential development and population growth.
Strong stated, “I am pleased that USPS is moving forward on plans to construct a new facility in the 35763-zip code to keep pace with residential development and southeastern Madison County’s unprecedented population growth. My constituents should be able to count on the postal service to deliver mail securely and on time, and I am hopeful this new facility will accomplish just that.”
Since his start in Congress, Strong has raised concerns with USPS leaders about ongoing mail service problems across North Alabama. He has urged improvements regarding delivery delays, staffing shortages, limited facilities, and issues with zip codes and routing within his district.
“While this is a step in the right direction for the residents of the 35763-zip code, there is more work to be done across North Alabama. I will continue to press USPS leadership for improved staffing, upgraded facilities, and better mail processing operations so that every community in our district receives the reliable service they deserve,” said Strong.
In recent years, Strong has led several initiatives related to postal services throughout North Alabama. These include advocating for a new post office in the fast-growing 35763 area; pushing for a dedicated regional processing center; securing congressional language requiring USPS review of Huntsville’s Processing and Distribution Center consolidation; obtaining an appropriations provision for internal assessments of address listings; and assisting residents who experienced lost or delayed mail.
Dale Strong currently represents Alabama’s 5th district in Congress after replacing Mo Brooks in 2023. Before serving at the federal level, he was part of both the Alabama House of Representatives and Madison County Commission. Born in Monrovia in 1970, Strong now lives in Huntsville and holds a bachelor’s degree from Athens State University.
