Congressman Dale Strong has secured more than $6.2 million in federal funding for infrastructure projects in rural North Alabama. The funds are part of H.R. 5371, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies bill, which was signed into law this week.
The allocation includes $5,175,000 for the Town of Ardmore to build a groundwater treatment facility. This project aims to replace failing wells and provide a stable source of drinking water for residents. Additionally, $1,087,500 is designated for the Town of Triana to upgrade its sanitary sewer system to maintain uninterrupted service during power outages.
“Every community deserves access to safe drinking water and reliable infrastructure,” said Congressman Strong. “The Town of Ardmore has faced significant challenges with its aging wells, and this new groundwater treatment facility will provide a long-term, sustainable solution for families and businesses that rely on a clean, consistent water supply.”
Billy Shannon, Mayor of Ardmore, stated: “As our town continues to grow, our aging tanks and limited capacity have made it difficult to keep up with demand. We’ve had to rely on outside sources for water just to meet the needs of our residents. This federal funding will finally allow us to increase Ardmore’s water capacity and provide a sustainable supply for years to come. We’re a small town and couldn’t have taken on a project of this size without help from Congressman Strong. This is a major victory for the citizens of Ardmore, and we’re deeply grateful for his support.”
Strong highlighted the importance of investing in local infrastructure as vital for the success and growth of rural communities in North Alabama.
“The improvements in Triana will strengthen the town’s sewer system and ensure residents continue receiving dependable service without disruption,” said Strong. “Modernizing this essential infrastructure will allow Triana to continue to grow.”
Mary Caudle, Mayor of Triana, commented: “Congressman Strong has always been a champion for Madison County and the Town of Triana. When he served as Chairman of the Madison County Commission, he made it a priority to support local communities, and he’s continued that same commitment in Congress. This much-needed funding will allow us to make critical upgrades to our wastewater system and ensure reliable service for residents even during power outages. It’s a major win for our town, and we’re grateful for his continued partnership and support.”
The funding reflects Strong’s efforts as a member of the House Appropriations Committee to secure resources that improve infrastructure and public health in North Alabama’s rural areas.
“These projects strengthen infrastructure and support rural communities. The people of North Alabama deserve to get a fair share of the money they send to Washington in federal taxes, and I am proud to have championed these projects,” said Strong.
H.R. 5371 is one of three Fiscal Year 2026 spending bills signed into law so far; work continues on additional bills where further funding may be sought by Strong.
