Six businesses registered in five cities found within Morgan County in the week ending Feb. 4

There were six businesses that registered in cities within Morgan County in the week ending Feb. 4, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 33 percent less than the week before, when nine businesses were registered.

Trinity registered the most businesses in Morgan County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
