WASHINGTON— In his first 100 days in office, Congressman Dale W. Strong (AL-05) hit the ground running for the people of the Fifth Congressional District.

“I promise to defend national security, support economic development in North Alabama, and promote strong conservative values. While we have had a successful first 100 days, there is no time to let off the gas pedal. I assure you, our finest days are still ahead,” says Congressman Dale W. Strong.

HIGHLIGHTS OF CONGRESSMAN STRONG’S FIRST 100 DAYS:

  • Landmark conservative bills passed by House of Representatives

  • Introduced first bill to address our nation’s border crisis

  • 61 meetings and visits in the Fifth District

  • 96 meetings with constituents and companies in Washington, D.C.

  • 31 hearings and briefings for committees and subcommittees

  • 2 visits to the Southwest border to witness the Administration’s border crisis firsthand

Committee Assignments

In his first term, Congressman Strong was appointed to three committee assignments that are crucial to the success of North Alabama: Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Science, Space, and Technology.

The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) is responsible for the authorization of funding and oversight of the Department of Defense. The Committee on Homeland Security provides congressional oversight of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), whose primary mission is to secure our nation. The Committee on Science, Space, and Technology maintains oversight of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation, and the National Weather Service.

Congressman Strong has attended 31 committee and subcommittee hearings.

Working for the people

During his first 100 days, Congressman Strong has attended 96 meetings in Washington, D.C. with constituents and companies that directly relate to the business of North Alabama.

Strong loves being able to come home and interact with the people he represents. In the first 100 days he attended 61 meetings in the Fifth District.

Legislation

Congressman Strong hit the ground running, joining his Republican colleagues in their Commitment to America to build an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future built upon freedom, and a government that’s accountable to the American people.

In March, Strong introduced his first piece of legislation to combat the border crisis, the “Protect our Troops, Defend our Border Act.” It would require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to resume border wall construction and calls out the hypocrisy of the Administration for claiming there isn’t a crisis at the border as they continue to deploy the brave men and women of our Armed Forces.

Strong has co-sponsored several key pieces of legislation:

  • “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” which will ensure that newborns who have survived an abortion attempt are given the same level of medical care as other newborn babies.

  • “Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act” which will repeal $45B included in the Inflation Reduction Act to add 87,000 new IRS agents.

  • “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act,” which will enable citizens with state-issued concealed carry permits to travel freely across any state line and conceal a handgun.

  • “DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes Act” which will prohibit DHS funds from going to American universities that host a Confucius Institute or maintain a relationship with a Chinese entity of concern.

  • “FairTax Act of 2023” which will establish a national sales tax on goods and services as a means to replace the current federal income tax system.

  • “Protect Farmers from SEC Act” which will exempt agriculture from the SEC overreach regulation to track carbon emissions.

  • “TRANQ Act” which will study the effects of synthetic opioids including “tranq” which has made its way to Alabama with deadly consequences.

  • Joint Resolution of Disapproval under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to stop the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms’ (ATF) rule expanding enforcement over pistol braces.

In the first 100 days, Rep. Strong and his Republican Colleagues reopened the House of Representatives to the American people, defended our nation’s energy security, protected the sanctity of life, defunded unnecessary spending on the IRS, countered the Chinese Communist Party's malign influence, and held the Biden Administration accountable for their weaponization of the federal government.

Highlights From the 118th Congress First 100 Days:

  • Passed the 118th Congress Rules Package in order to create the most Member-driven, open, transparent, and accountable House of Representatives to date.

  • Defunded 87,000 IRS agents.

  • Ended proxy voting.

  • Stopped selling of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to Communist China.

  • Protected and strengthened America’s SPR.

  • Defended the right to life with the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
