12 businesses registered in four cities found within Morgan County during January

There were 12 businesses that registered in cities within Morgan County during January, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is unchanged from the month before.

Hartselle registered the most businesses in Morgan County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
