1:20 p.m. update: All roads in Huntsville are open. Shaded portions of roads may have patches of ice, please continue to use caution. Caution is also advised on overpasses and areas of high elevation.12 p.m. update: Cecil Ashburn is now open. Vehicles blocking lanes of travel have been moved to the Land Trust parking lot. HPD is asking people to please move their vehicles from Governors Drive by 2 p.m. to ease traffic in the area. 10:50 a.m. update: Pulaski Pike is closed from Kelly Cemetery Road to Amberlee Lane due to icy conditions.10 a.m. update: Cecil Ashburn Road remains closed due to the high number of abandoned vehicles blocking the roadway. Motorists who left their vehicles overnight are asked to please retrieve them by 2 p.m.9 a.m. update: The start of Orbit fixed-route service is delayed until 10 a.m. Access paratransit is running, but service is delayed due to icy road conditions.
Oakwood Avenue in the area of Clubview Drive is impassable at this time.Hobbs Island Road is also impassable.8 a.m update: One lane of Governors Drive is open in each direction. Please use caution due to icy road conditions and abandoned vehicles on the side of the road.
The City of Huntsville urges drivers to use caution this morning as many roads are either closed or impassable due to black ice.
As of 6 a.m., elevated portions of Memorial Parkway, Interstate 565 and Research Park Boulevard had reopened, but were down to one lane in each direction.
Other road closures remain in effect:
- Cecil Ashburn Drive
- Bankhead Parkway
- Green Mountain Road
- Plummer Road between Research Park Blvd. and Jordan Lane
- Old Monrovia Road
- Sparkman Drive
- Highway 431 South between Bassett Street and Dug Hill Road
- Chapman Mountain
- Mountain Gap Road (impassable)
- Memorial Parkway at Mt. Charron
- Highway 72 East at Christian Lane NE
- High Mountain Road and Epworth Drive

Due to dangerous road conditions, Orbit fixed-route and Access paratransit service will begin at 9 a.m. Patrons should anticipate delays and possible detours until conditions improve.
