A Cut Above District 1 Summer Landscaping Challenge winners announced!

A Cut Above, the inaugural District 1 Summer Landscaping Challenge, started with a simple vision. Council Member Devyn Keith, who grew up and still resides in D1, set out to host a friendly competition between neighbors, while also inspiring citizens to keep their yards looking their best.

The front-yard challenge launched Wednesday, July 6, and concluded Saturday, Aug. 6. Citizens in District 1 competed for up to three titles, a prize pack and complimentary yard sign designating their award.

Thanks to a panel of judges from the City of Huntsville’s Landscape Management Department and Operation Green Team, Keith is proud to announce the winners of this year’s challenge:

  • Best Landscaping – Barbara Ballard
  • Most Captivating Floral Display – Bennie Harris
  • Best Curb Appeal – Nicholas Britton
“Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to everyone who entered the competition,” Keith said. “A Cut Above is all about inspiring positive change in our community, and the individuals who participated in our landscaping challenge did just that. Let’s keep this going all throughout the year!”

Keith will recognize and award prizes to each winner at the regular City Council meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8. Stay tuned to the District 1 Facebook page and the City of Huntsville’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates.
