This week, Calhoun’s Recruiting Office welcomed students to a new academic year with a series of activities during its Welcome Week. Students were given guidance on how to find their classes across multiple campuses, how to obtain their student IDs and parking passes as well as learn about the many clubs, organizations, and sports the college has to offer.
With classes set to begin next week on August 17, many students used this time to become acclimated with college life and learn about the campus, while others used it as a re-introduction to the college while being online due to the pandemic. “We created this week of activities with the needs of our students in mind,” commented Jessica Jackson, Calhoun Recruitment Coordinator. “We included activities that not only covered navigating our campus for first-time freshmen, but we also included fun activities that would help them to make friends, build relationships and become more comfortable with being on our campus,” she added.
Today is the last day for Welcome Week, which will be full of fun activities on both campuses. Basketball and volleyball competitions will be held, games will be available to play, and a commemorative photo booth, as well as food and an escape room, are some of the things students will be able to look forward to as the activities conclude. The event will run today from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm on both campuses.
