ATHENIAN PLAYERS PRESENT “RIGHT BEFORE I GO” BY STAN ZIMMERMAN

The Athenian Players present right before i go by Stan Zimmerman, directed by Dr. Hugh Long.

Stan Zimmerman (The Golden Girls, Roseanne, Gilmore Girls) brings to life the last words written in letters by individuals lost to suicide — including celebrities, veterans, kids that were bullied, LGBTQ, and the clinically depressed — and those who have survived suicide attempts. Since its acclaimed first performance at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2015, the play has traveled across the country, raising awareness and offering hope for suicide prevention.

“This poignant, deeply moving, and surprisingly light play invokes a raw and authentic approach to storytelling in an effort to help broaden public perspective of suicide, eliminate the stigma associated with depression, and strengthen the relationship between survivors and those struggling every day.” – Broadwayworld.com

Running Thursday, July 7 & Friday July 8th at 7pm in the Studio Theatre of the Alabama Center for the Arts. Each performance will feature a talk back round table with invited guests speakers, the cast and writer, Stan Zimmerman to discuss the issues presented in the production.

Tickets are free, but there is a suggested donation amount of $10 per ticket. All proceeds will be donated to a Thrive Alabama, Thrive Alabama is a North Alabama Healthcare provider that empowers LGBTQ patients to create a healthy community by providing compassionate, accessible, affordable and comprehensive care.
