Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 15.
On Thursday, “Revive Alabama” – Governor Kay Ivey's small business grant program – will launch, providing support for Alabama small businesses impacted by Covid-19 and reimburse for expenses they have incurred due to operational interruptions and closures.
“In support of the Decatur-Morgan County small business community, the Chamber wants to make sure each qualifying business has all the information available for them to weather our challenging economic environment,” said Crystal Brown, vice president of development for the Chamber. “Small business is the pulse of our local economy, and so much is being asked of them as we restart and attempt to return to normal. Gov. Ivey’s plan is another available resource to help companies bridge to the other side of the recovery.”
Through the Governor’s program, $100 million of the state’s CARES Act federal funding is being dedicated to providing cash grants of up to $15,000 to reimburse Alabama small businesses for business interruption expenses as long as they have not received federal assistance for the corresponding item they are claiming with the state. The application process for these grants is being administered by the Alabama Department of Revenue, and the application period will open at noon on July 16, and run through midnight on July 25. Grants will be awarded to qualifying applicants on a first-come-first-served basis until the funds are exhausted.
