Congressman Dale Strong, who represents Alabama’s 5th district and serves as a member of the Appropriations Committee and Vice Chairman of the Commerce, Justice, and Science Subcommittee, has secured over $12 million in federal funding for infrastructure and public safety projects across North Alabama.
The funds are included in H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Act, 2026. The House of Representatives passed this bill earlier this week.
“I’m proud to have secured over $12 million in this funding package to deliver meaningful investments for communities across North Alabama. These resources represent my commitment to strengthening public safety, supporting local law enforcement, and advancing innovation.
“From upgrading 911 radio systems and police equipment to improving water infrastructure and expanding cutting-edge research capabilities, these projects address both immediate needs and long-term growth. Working closely with our state and local partners, I’m proud to deliver targeted investments that keep our communities safe, strengthen our workforce, and ensure North Alabama remains a leader in innovation, defense, and aerospace for years to come,” said Congressman Dale Strong.
The funding will support several projects in Alabama’s Fifth District:
– $1.5 million for the Town of Rogersville to construct an elevated water storage tank.
– $592,305 for the Priceville Police Department to purchase new patrol vehicles and upgrade equipment.
– $300,000 for the Hartselle Police Department to replace aging radio systems.
– $4.135 million for Auburn University Applied Research Institute in Huntsville for high-performance computing capabilities.
– $4.2 million for the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s AI Research Facility for Space and Defense.
– $199,762 for the Somerville Police Department to purchase new vehicles and make technological upgrades.
– $1.2 million for Lawrence County to modernize its radio system.
In addition to this latest allocation through H.R. 6938—which now awaits Senate consideration—Strong previously secured $6.2 million in community project funding through H.R. 5371 signed into law on November 12, 2025. In total, he will have delivered more than $18 million back to his district in FY26 community project funding.
