Keith Jackson, the founder of a Decatur plumbing and HVAC company, Jackson Plumbing, said he has grown his business to be “seven times bigger than in 2015.” “It’s been an amazing ride,” Jackson said.

“We’ve grown our business about 10 times, not quite that much, it’s about seven times bigger than it was in 2015,” Jackson said of the company’s explosive growth.

Based in Decatur, Jackson Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling offers its award-winning services to the surrounding areas of Madison, Morgan, and Limestone Counties, according to the company website. Focused on delivering professional solutions and customer satisfaction, the certified team at Jackson boasts expertise in the repair, installation, and maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems. The company’s knowledgeable technicians will answer inquiries and provide the necessary information to assist homeowners in making informed decisions.

In an interview with the Decatur Times, Jackson said his interest in plumbing was sparked during his early years by his father, who took on plumbing as a side job to support their family of six. His father’s involvement in plumbing extended to volunteering for the church’s plumbing needs, which garnered attention and requests for his services. Jackson started assisting with plumbing tasks at the age of 10, continuing through his school years, including high school. Although his father took a break from plumbing and Jackson pursued college, the ambition to establish his own plumbing business persisted. In 1987, Jackson realized this dream by founding Jackson’s Plumbing, which has since expanded to include HVAC and electrical service in the last seven years. “We went from eight people to 43 employees,” said Jackson.

Jackson Plumbing offers emergency services, for example, when a pipe breaks down, but customers can also schedule an appointment with one of their experts. “You can rest assured our Decatur plumbers, electricians and HVAC technicians are thoroughly trained, knowledgeable, and ready to handle everything from emergencies to simple repairs,” the website noted.

Jackson Plumbing received the 2022 Small Business of the Year award in the 11-50 employee category from the Partnership of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (CCAA) and the Business Council of Alabama (BCA). The company is dedicated to serving the community and supports initiatives for breast cancer research, Toys for Tots, and local organizations like the Christian Center, the Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club, Jackson said. The company received the Torch Award for Ethics in 2022 and was named the small business of the year for Alabama. The company is currently involved in the 100th build for Habitat for Humanity in Morgan County.

In August 2023, Jackson Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling was acquired by Ace Hardware. Jackson voiced his excitement to partner with Ace, as the companies share the same values and commitment to customer satisfaction. He also noted that the partnership with Ace can help extend Jackson’s service and expertise to more areas.

“The alignment of values, purpose, and vision between Jackson Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, and Ace Hardware is truly remarkable” and will allow the company “to create an even better experience for our customers in Decatur, Huntsville, and beyond,” according to the company website.
