Decatur businessman Keith Jackson said his company, Jackson Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, truly started to grow when he started working on his own personal growth.
“I prided myself that I was a really good plumber, but I never worked on myself as personal development, working to grow as a human being,” Jackson told Decatur-Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center executive director John Joseph as part of the center’s Community Entrepeneurship Series. “Our company has grown so fast in the last seven years since I went to work on me, and what has happened is is the whole culture has changed.”
“We went from eight people to 43 employees,” said Jackson. “And for the most part, I would say 95% of the time, everybody here is happy, they’re smiling, they’re positive and that is such a good feeling to create that and be a part of it.”
Jackson founded his company in 1987, and is a member of the North Alabama Better Business Bureau’s Board of Directors.
He was named the 2022 “Raymon Baker – John Cook – Ralph Jones Small Business Person of the Year” by the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. His company received the 2022 Small Business of the Year Award in the 11-50 employee category from the The Partnership of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama (CCAA) and the Business Council of Alabama (BCA).
Jackson’s company was acquired by Ace Hardware in August, a move he told the Decatur Daily News will “signals the beginning of an exciting new venture.”
“The alignment of values, purpose, and vision between Jackson Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, and Ace Hardware is truly remarkable” and will allow the company “to create an even better experience for our customers in Decatur, Huntsville, and beyond,” said the company website.
Located at 4504 Highway 31 South in Decatur, Jackson Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling provides air conditioning and plumbing repair, installation, and maintenance services for Madison, Morgan, and Limestone counties. The company has more than 800 reviews on Google with an almost-perfect rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars.
