Dale W. Strong, U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 5th district since 2023, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and criticize Democratic leadership for its duration and handling.
On November 4, 2025, Strong posted, “Today marks day 35 of the Democrat inflicted government shutdown, tying for the longest in American history. Democrats in Congress have voted 14 separate times now to keep the government closed.”
Later that same day, he continued his criticism by stating, “Since the shutdown began, Democrats have cycled through excuses and lies, but over time, they’ve admitted what this is really about: power and political leverage. Strong has represented Alabama’s 5th District since replacing Mo Brooks in Congress in 2023. Prior to his current role, he served both in the Alabama House of Representatives and on the Madison County Commission. Born in Monrovia in 1970 and currently residing in Huntsville at age 52, Strong holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Athens State University.
